Nia / Restorative

Amagical combination…Nia and Restorative Yoga! Nia is a sensory-based, guided movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts, and healing arts and empowers participants by connecting their body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The soul stirring music will move you–inside and out! It’s kind of like chocolate…You can’t describe it – you have to taste it! Restorative Yoga is a practice designed to calm the breath, nourish the nervous system, and settle the mind. Restorative poses are done with props to encourage deep rest and relaxation. Music, healing touch, and gentle adjustments help participants drop deeper into the experience.

During the first hour, Michelle Peeters will lead the group through a fluid, inspiring Nia practice. During the second hour, I will drop participants into a grounded, introspective Restorative Yoga practice.

Future dates will be posted here.

Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation

Join me for a 5 week Mindfulness Meditation Workshop designed to offer participants a gentle introduction (or re-introduction) to meditation.

Meditation is a beautiful practice to help manage stress, to bring clarity to our circumstances, to shed light on our patterns and habits, and to open our heart.

Over the course of 5 weeks, participants will explore a variety of tools and techniques. Each week a suggested home practice will be shared so that group members may explore a personal practice between sessions. Chairs will be provided.

Friday mornings 10:30 – 11:30 am

January 12 – February 9th, 2018

Home office: Yonge & Davisville

$100 + HST / 5 week session

Dana’s Restorative/Yin class is a still point in the chaos that has become my life. It is an oasis I can look forward to, a place where I can drop all the weight of the world that I carry and simply drift into the pleasures and challenges of Yoga as she presents it. A warm smile at the door. Carefully chosen music. Calming lighting. Dana’s loving, soothing presence. All of these things welcome me in and assure me that here, I am safe. Here, I can let go. Here, I can heal.

~ Tabitha

Dana’s restorative yoga classes have been an instrumental tool for my struggle with some major lifestyle changes. I was looking for a healthy way of dealing with everyday stress, and what I found was an hour and a half of complete mental and bodily relaxation. Dana’s welcoming and compassionate approach to teaching a newcomer to yoga has bolstered my confidence to use the techniques at home, and I have found in myself a much calmer and balanced individual.
